Spring and summer are times to hydrate big time!! Your body is approximately 70% water and your brain about 80% water. Yet how much water do you drink daily? And what water do you drink?

Drinking water is a habit. A funny thing is the more you drink the more you want.

By the time you feel thirsty you’re already partly dehydrated. An average adult could do with about 2 litres a day. So it’s essential to know that if you’re drinking good quality water beneficial to your health.

You may be thinking that if drinking water comes out the tap it must be ok, right? Wrong.

If you live in Australia and the United States your tap water will include fluoride (toxic waste), heavy metals and a bit of chlorine bleach. Hmmm tasty.

So why is this a problem? Lets have a look.

What are the key issues with drinking tap water?
Two key contaminants are fluoride and chlorine bleach.
Possible environmental contaminants include:
* heavy metals including mercury, arsenic, lead
* pesticides, herbicides and petrochemicals
* fertilisers and nitrates

Chlorine – is added to disinfect the water from bugs and bacteria. When it combines with organic matter it forms toxic by-products in water and is a proven carcinogenic.

Fluoride – About 70% of tap water in Australia and the US is fluoridated. This is not with calcium fluoride but with hydrofluorosilicic acid, a toxic waste product from the aluminium, phosphate fertiliser and nuclear waste industries.

Most countries reject water fluoridation. It is BANNED in Japan and 97% of European countries.

So why is fluoride added to our drinking water?

Fluoridation has occurred in Australia and the US since the mid 1950‘s. Originally fluoride was an experiment during the 2nd World War, introduced into concentration camps as part of the regime to ‘control the masses’. Fluoride then became an industrial and government issue in the US when it was introduced into tap water in the 1950’s under the guise of preventing tooth decay. It seemed to answer the industrial problem of how to dispose of large amounts of toxic waste created . . . by adding it to the water supply.

What are associated health problems of toxic fluoride – hydrofluorosilicic acid?
Fluoride accumulates in body around the bones and pineal gland, disrupting the mineral balance of the body so affects things like arthritis and osteoporosis.

Fluoride calcifies the pineal gland. A tiny little gland, about 6mm long, vital to the healthy functioning of the endocrine system (hormonal system). It is primarily responsible for:

  • producing melatonin, a hormone that regulates the sleep cycle
  • converts signals from the nervous system into endocrine (hormonal) messages – essential for the healthy functioning of your whole body.

From a Yogi perspective the pineal gland is know as the third eye. Physically it grows like an eye and is the gland of intuition, inspiration, trusting, knowing . . . (you can see why they wanted to dull this ability in concentration camps). Sunlight helps stimulate a calcified pineal gland – take off your hat every now and then and allow the light in!!

Anything made from regular tap water will also contain fluoride, heavy metals etc i.e. soft drinks and processed foods. The extended impact of drinking water ripples out into many other areas. What water do you make cups of tea with, and cook with?

The answer is to drink quality filtered water.
